It’s amazing how God lets us know that we are not in control. It can be funny sometimes – in a good way. At other times, it really sucks.
What’s is that saying? Sometimes your the dog and sometimes your the hydrant…. This time I’m the hydrant.
A couple days ago, I posted a message saying how I’m hoping that Jessica and Erika will be able to return to us – by some sort of miracle – the Dumb and Dumber quote. Well, that miracle requirement was just upped yesterday. Brenda said she didn’t want the girls back. I guess that I’m the dumber one. Now my daughters have been taken away from me twice! Yes, this does really suck! Without Brenda wanting them back, it will never happen. I am now limited to just my memory, pictures and video of my daughters – for the rest of my life.

Today is Sunday – which have been very hard days for me since Jessica and Erika have been gone. Sundays were the days I could spend some time with all my kids. We’d play hockey after church and be able to have a lot of fun together – with all the church kids and most of the dads on the ice, too. It was the day that I was able to be a little more free to be the dad I wanted to. I pray every day that God will do a miracle and put them back into our lives – that He would give them back to us. If it never happens, I’ll have to deal with that later. Here’s how I view it right now…. Remember in the movie Dumb and Dumber where Lloyd is asking Mary:
- Lloyd: What are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me… ending up together?
- Mary: Well, that’s pretty difficult to say.
- Lloyd: Hit me with it! I’ve come a long way to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
- Mary: Not good.
- Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
- Mary: I’d say more like one out of a million
[pause]
- Lloyd: So you’re telling me there’s a chance.
That’s probably the chance that Jessica and Erika will end up back with us, but I’m with Lloyd. There’s a chance until there’s no chance at all. Until then, I trust that God is taking care of them since they are His daughters, too.
I bought a snowboard a couple weeks ago, but the boots were too big and not very comfortable. I sold them and got a new/used snowboard a couple days ago. Some nice friends at church are letting me use some boots that fit pretty good. Next Monday we’ll be at Hyland if the weather holds out. Mitch is growing out of his snowboard and I may have to get him a new/used one before then.
Work is going pretty good. We did get a bonus and raise this year. I was surprised that the bonus was a normal (pretty large) one, as was the raise. We’re staying busy being short-handed and getting more customers. Maybe that’s why they can still give out bonuses and raises.
