Adoption Day 59
If you’ve noticed, the updates are fewer and farther between. We’ve been pretty busy on non-adoption things, plus we’ve forced ourselves to not be constantly thinking about adopting. It can be pretty draining keeping up the pace we did at first. We still think and talk about it daily, but we have to live, too. We have 2 great kids right now that need us, too.
We had a play day on Monday. We took some of the kids’ friends on the boat and did some tubing and swimming. Then we went to Valley Fair. I remember going there as a kid – things sure haven’t changed much. Some of the rides are the same, the food is the same and the games are the same. We did notice the customer service has dropped some. There were fewer workers at the rides, which meant longer than needed waiting times for the rides – although there really weren’t a lot of people at the park. The kids had fun. Mitch likes the rides that go in circles/spin fast. Holly likes the rides that move up, down and around really fast. Brenda and i can’t take the spinning rides like we could when we were younger. I did try ‘Steel Venom’ and it’s now one of my favorites.
When we finally adopt kids, depending on the number, paying for Valley Fair could be a real shocker. I’m sure God will not give us more than we can handle. We look forward to that day when it finally arrives.
The US Director of the Children’s Shelter of Cebu just returned from the Philippines with his wife and the 4 children they adopted. Then went from no children to an instant family of 6. That will be a big change for them. I think there’s an advantage with us already having children, though.
