We were looking at a different international adoption agency/orphanage the last couple days. It’s the Children’s Shelter of Cebu in the Philippines. They have a family of 5 that’s been waiting for over 4 years to be adopted. There’s some older kids – 14 or 15 year old twins – boy and girl, a 13 year old boy, a 7 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. HERE is their website. It’s not what we started out looking for, but maybe it’s who we were meant to find…. That would sure be a change to our family. Going from a family of 4 to a family of 9 – wow! It’s not a matter to be taken lightly.

Our friends, the Hedstroms, came in Monday night and had their new Colombian children with them. There are 4 new Hedstrom children, to go with the existing 5. It was quite an event. Their plane was about an hour late. I’d guess there were around 100 people waiting to greet them.
We’re also looking at adopting from the Philippines, and the Children’s Shelter of Cebu. There are some large sibling groups (one is 9, another 4 children).
Our adoption counselor said she’d start our home-study today and hoped to get it done by the end of the month.

It’s been a while since I added a blog entry. Not that we haven’t been doing anything, but it just hasn’t been a lot.
Today we completed our physicals and had the doctors fill out the paperwork for the adoption agency. I took them to Crossroads right away (after copying them first, this time) and talked to our adoption counselor. She’s trying to get our home study done before the end of the month to avoid some additional fingerprinting that needs to be done. I hope she can get it done – all we need are more hoops to go through. We should hear something later this week regarding any missing paperwork.
Meanwhile, our car is not running very well. It surges fast and slow at idle and sometimes just dies. I think I’ll have to take it in. I looked at some things (temperature sensor, vacuum lines, IAC motor) and can’t figure it out.
Our friends are flying in tonight to MSP with their 4 new children from Colombia. We’re going to the iarport to meet them, along with a lot more people, I’m sure.

We went to our 3rd meeting at Crossroads. It was an ‘Adopting older children’ panel discussion. We both thought it was very valuable. There were some things we already knew, but some things that we didn’t even think of that were discussed.
