Adoption Day 4

I went to various government agencies today – delivering paperwork for them to fill out for background checks. But I made a big boo boo. I forgot to copy the forms before giving them to the government workers. It’s a good thing the forms are very simple, easy to fill out and don’t have a lot of info on them.

The Hennepin County Social Services people were very helpful and directed me to the next stop on my list – the Juvenile Court building.

Going to the Juvenile Court building, I forgot that my knife was in my pocket. After seeing the metal detector, I told the guard I had my knife in my pocket. I had to either take it back to my car (quite a few blocks away) , give it upĀ  in the “amnesty bucket” or take it to a locker and pay a quarter to store it there. I took the last option. At least I wasn’t thrown on the floor and handcuffed.

The BCA visit went a lot smoother today. I just showed the ‘proper’ forms today and waited 10 minutes for the background checks on Brenda and Holly. I’m pretty familiar with that place now, having been there 3 times. It’s too bad I won’t need to go there anymore…or is it?

My mom and dad sold their house today. Sure, it was for sale, but I still didn’t expect them to sell it (or more accurately, to accept an offer on it). They need to be out in a couple weeks.

They’ve brought up the idea of moving in with us, but we’re not sure about that. Having anywhere from 2 to 4 new kids and a couple grandparents in the same house may be a bit too much. That’d be 8 to 10 people! We’ve been talking about putting a couple additions on the house anyway.
